By May 2009 Google Chrome share of the consumer-browser market had grown to 1.8%, according to Net Applications, a web analytics firm.
Microsoft Internet Explorer still has the lion's share, at around 66%, though this has fallen from nearly 80% two years ago. But these numbers only show what kind of browsers pople use on the public internet. On corporate networks, Microsoft reigns supreme, boasting a share of more than 90%, according to some estimates.
